Network Coding Theory - Part II: Multiple Source
نویسندگان
چکیده
Store-and-forward had been the predominant technique for transmitting information through a network until its optimality was refuted by network coding theory. Network coding offers a new paradigm for network communications and has generated abundant research interest in information and coding theory, networking, switching, wireless communications, cryptography, computer science, operations research, and matrix theory. In this issue we review network coding theory for the scenario when there are multiple source nodes each intending to transmit to a different set of destination nodes. A companion issue reviews the foundational work that has led to the development of network coding theory and discusses the theory for the transmission from a single source node to other nodes in the network.

متن کاملEfficient Joint Network-Source Coding for Multiple Terminals with Side Information
Consider the problem of source coding in networks with multiple receiving terminals, each having access to some kind of side information. In this case, standard coding techniques are either prohibitively complex to decode, or require network-source coding separation, resulting in sub-optimal transmission rates. To alleviate this problem, we offer a joint network-source coding scheme based on ma...
متن کاملHybrid Coding: An Interface for Joint Source-Channel Coding and Network Communication
A new approach to joint source–channel coding is presented in the context of communicating correlated sources over multiple access channels. Similar to the separation architecture, the joint source– channel coding system architecture in this approach is modular, whereby the source encoding and channel decoding operations are decoupled. However, unlike the separation architecture, the same codew...
متن کاملA Theory of Network Equivalence, Parts I and II
A family of equivalence tools for bounding network capacities is introduced. Part I treats networks built from point-to-point channels. Part II generalizes the technique to networks containing wireless channels such as broadcast, multiple access, and interference channels. The main result of part I is roughly as follows. Given a network of noisy, independent, memoryless point-to-point channels,...
متن کاملOptimal Coding Subgraph Selection under Survivability Constraint
Nowadays communication networks have become an essential and inevitable part of human life. Hence, there is an ever-increasing need for expanding bandwidth, decreasing delay and data transfer costs. These needs necessitate the efficient use of network facilities. Network coding is a new paradigm that allows the intermediate nodes in a network to create new packets by combining the packets recei...
